Climbers into high piggies

I'm not starting out easy. In fact, I pretendeth not..this wasn't simple. But I have a GOOD subject. She may be 2 but she sits STILL for her hair (until 5 min to the end LOL).

I didn't take pics as I was going along because it was the first time I'd attempted this and I wanted to do it before she got antsy. But it really is self explanatory. I'll walk you through it anyway.

You start at the bottom and do a part all the way across the head. With short hair you have to start up higher (at least we did) than you would if you had long hair. Sophia's hair is cut in an A-line cut so her middle back is VERY short.

Make your two piggies at the bottom. Then do another part above that one and do three more piggies, one right in the center between the two below it. In the center piggy you should have half of each bottom row piggy. The other half will go into the side piggy. (This is how you do climbers, no matter WHERE it is on the head.)

Then you gather them all into piggies on the top (split that middle one again) and on your last 'pull' don't pull it all the way through, creating loops. I make them small and tug at them to make them messy.

From now on I promise to do step by step. And I"ll do this one again in a few weeks to get some better step shots.

Edited: I saw this on http://girlydos.blogspot.com/ from one of her readers. Well that reader has started a blog so I can credit her now. http://allgirlshair.blogspot.com/2008/08/so-this-is-another-one-that-got-posted.html

You're one of THOSE moms?

Um, the ones who I sit behind at church, and wonder how they create intricate marvels in their daughter's hair. Then I wonder how much you have to pay them to sit still that long. Cady would have called DFS on me if I tried to do that to her. She's no fun. I've often commented that I wish someone had classes on how to do stuff like that to your kids. A mom in my ward does similar things to her two girls, and they always look adorable.

Sophia looks really cute! Maybe I should grow Spencer's hair out again and.....I probably better not. I've already scarred him by dressing him up in a dress, then there was the toenail painting incident....

haha Ok if I pop out a girl in the future, you can pop me out a boy and we'll swap. I think a dark hair child would be hilarious in our family. ;)

Hey! Thanks for the comment on my blog -- hope you don't mind that I came on over to check you out! So cute -- It's amazing what all can be done with littler girls & their hair. Welcome to the "club!" Looking forward to seeing what you'll do in the future since my little Bee is 18 months and getting more hair each day. Hey, do you mind if I give you a shout out on my blog & add you to my list of "must sees?"

Ok, so consider yourself "shouted out!" Now the pressure is truly on!! ;-) LOL! The commenting thing gets tricky -- your e-mail address comes up as a "no comment/replier" in my box, hence my commenting again here! For those who have the option, I comment on my blog, but if they have a valid e-mail address I e-mail them back.

Anyway, looking forward to more cute stuff from ya!

Thank you SOOOOOOO much!!! My daughter has short hair and as much as I love looking at long hair blogs, I just can't wait 3 years for her hair to be long so I can try those hairstyles. Thanks for modifying them and creating cute short hairstyles, too! :)

I appreciate the short hairstyle blog as well...I have a 6 year that we recently cut her hair for the summer because it's beastly hot around here so hopefully the ones you do on your cutie can be adapted for bigger girl's hair too!! ;) Keep updating!!

Thank you!!! I have been drooling over all the hair blogs, but my daughter and a friend played barber in May, and she still has very short hair. This gives me something I can do hopefully soon with her hair as it grows out.

I love this. Too bad I alrady did my two-year-old's hair today. I will for sure be doing this to her hair tomorrow. I am grateful that your blog is all about short hair. I am glad that my daughter doesn't always have to have the one pony on top of her head!
