Double Zig Zag

Remember the zig zag? It's no longer possible haha.

I decided to try this, and it will work. It didn't work well today because these rubber bands SUCK. Ya I said it. SUCK. SUCK HARD.

Okay, I'm tossing this in here because I had a bunch of emails and a comment asking what brand they are that sucks so bad... I really don't want anyone buying crappy products so I'll spill..These are the walmart ones in the baby section..the separated ones in the little container..lots of colors. They're awful, awful. One day in her hair they actually BROKE because we were in the sun all day. She hadn't even touched them, they just turned brittle and broke off!!

Anyway, if I had used rubber rubber bands instead of the 'no break' (which tend to break our hair MORE) it would've stayed in place. Mental note.

But you can get the idea :) I tried to go all the way down, no go. I'm thinking in a couple weeks we can.

That's so cute! Thank you so much for making this blog. Both my girls are very "hair challenged" and I feel like I can finally have fun doing their hair instead of envying every mother who has thick-haired, long-haired children. Thank you!

So, now I'm wondering what brand the sucky elastics are. I don't want to buy them!! I love your daughters new haircut! I'm sorry you can't do much with it, but it looks adorable on her. :)

This hairdo it really cute btw.

We love our Walmart baby elastics. They are super streachy and never have broken. I wonder if we just got lucky or you just got some yucky ones? Who knows. Anyway, I'm so glad I found your site! My little girl hates to have her hair done and so we cut it short and made a deal that I get to do it 2x a week for school and on Sundays for church. So, I'm glad that I have some ideas for shorter hair. Thanks so much for the blog.

Cute hair! I agree with the previous commenter though. I get the elastics at Wal-Mart in the baby section. I've always gotten mine there. I have two girls with long, thick hair. I have never had a problem with the elastics. Hmmm..yeah, maybe you got a bad batch.

Well, hopefully they ARE a bad batch! I know I shan't be buying them again lol.

Oh and also, after thinking about it, it might be the number of times I have to wrap them on thin hair, hence them working in your thick hair, Becki. It seems that when they touch themselves, they 'meld' together and maybe it weakens their whole structure? Might be a thin hair thing?

I need to send you a picture, but I tried this one with just one zig zag in the middle with the sides hanging down and the back curled. Very cute!

Oh, I don't love those ones from wal-mart either, but where else do you get them? I don't have a lot of money to spend so I don't know what else to do. I can't use most of them more than once though and I've had many break in the middle of the day like you said. Thanks!

ours get like that too, it usually doenst matter what kind either. The Goody ones i think are thicker and dont do it as much. but the others do. We've found some for cheap at hte dollar store. big packs for $1 of course. lol. There are 500 in each pack and have 3 different sizes. They kind of meld together too but for that price i dont mind it. I just break them to take them out I never try to remove them to reuse them. the brand is hälsa i tried looking online but found nothing. anyway I got a pack of black and a pack of clear.

Bonny, I'd love to see it!

And I buy mine from Sally's which is a hair supply store. I'd look up hair supply stores in your area. They also have different kinds in the hair part of walmart instead of the baby area. At least in mine. I haven't tried those tho

I got some in the little girl's section at Wal-Mart too. Funny how you can find hair things in the baby section, little girl's section, and the hair aisle. Ha! ANYWAYS-the ones in the little girl's section were actually really cool. Each elastic were two colors. They started one color, and then half way switched to another color. My dd thought that was way cool. They work pretty good, but I have found that they are more brittle and break a little easier than the ones in the baby section, so if I am doing it with lots of hair, then sometimes I will double up on them.
